The Importance of Bile Salts

Bile salts are crucial components of the digestive system. They are produced in the liver, stored in the gallbladder, and released into the small intestine to aid in digestion and the absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins (A,D,E, and K).

Bile salts break down large fat globules into smaller droplets. This process is called emulsification.

Bile salts help eliminate waste products, including bilirubin (a byproduct of red blood cell breakdown) and excess cholesterol from the body.

Standard Process CholacolCholaplex, and Fen- Cho all help with the support of bile production and overall digestive health.

These products are extremely beneficial for those that have digestive issues related to bile production and flow, such as those that have had their gallbladder removed.

Cholacol contains desiccated bovine bile. Ox bile has been historically used to support healthy fat digestive such as when eating a fatty meal. Collinsonia root, another ingredient of Cholacol has been historically used to support normal elimination and digestive health.

Cholaplex is a combination of five Standard Process formulas that help fat metabolism and optimize blood pressure.

Fen Cho is a combination of fenugreek seed and bile salts. the “Cho” stands for the bile salt product, cholacol. Fenugreek seeds help improve the flow of materials through the gastrointestinal tract so it has a mild laxative effect. This product also has collinsonia root.
